Oyu Tolgoi is a world-class copper and gold mining operation in Mongolia's South Gobi Desert. Our involvement focused on the underground expansion project, one of the most technically challenging mining developments globally.
The Challenge
The project presented unique challenges including extreme continental climate (-40°C to +40°C), complex geological conditions, remote infrastructure requirements, and the need to balance economic development with environmental stewardship in a fragile desert ecosystem.
Our Approach
Our multidisciplinary team provided geotechnical engineering, water management solutions, and economic feasibility analysis. We implemented innovative block-cave mining techniques and developed comprehensive environmental management systems.
